Therapeutic Actions

Inhibits prostaglandin synthetase to cause antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects; the exact mechanism of action is not known.


Indications



  • Acute or long-term use in the management of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis



Available Forms

Caplets, tablets—600 mg; tablets—678 mg (Daypro ALTA equivalent to 600 mg oxaprozin)


Dosages

Adjust to the lowest effective dose to minimize side effects. Maximum daily dose, 1,800 mg or 26 mg/kg, whichever is lower. Maximum dose for Daypro ALTA is 1,200 mg/day.
