Therapeutic Actions
Counteracts smooth muscle spasm of the urinary tract by relaxing the detrusor and other muscles through action at the parasympathetic receptors; has local anesthetic and analgesic properties.
Indications
Symptomatic relief of dysuria, urgency, nocturia, suprapubic pain, frequency and incontinence due to cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, urethrocystitis, urethrotrigonitis
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with allergy to flavoxate, pyloric or duodenal obstruction, obstructive intestinal lesions or ileus, achalasia, GI hemorrhage, obstructive uropathies of the lower urinary tract.
Use cautiously with glaucoma, pregnancy, lactation.

Tablets—100 mg
Dosages
Adults and patients 12 yr and older
100–200 mg PO tid or qid. Reduce dose when symptoms improve. Use up to 1,200 mg/day in severe urinary urgency following pelvic radiotherapy.
