Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a term used to describe a group of autoimmune diseases characterized by arthritis. The UK prevalence is 1 in 1000. Subtypes devised by the Paediatric Standing Committee of the International League for Rheumatology (ILAR) are described in the Figure 113.1.
