Giving Inhaled Medications


Instructions




1. Remove the cap and hold the inhaler upright.


2. Shake the inhaler.


3. Tilt your head back slightly, take a deep breath, and breathe out slowly.


4. Position the inhaler in one of the ways shown. (Figure 1 or 2 is best, but Figure 3 is acceptable for those who have difficulty with 1 or 2. Figure 3 is required for breath-activated inhalers. Figure 4 demonstrates a dry powder inhaler.)
