A brief description of the procedure follows: 1. A van Buren dilator is inserted to enlarge the urethra. 2. The resectoscope sheath with obturator is passed into the bladder. 3. Irrigating tubing is attached, and the bladder is filled with solution. 4. A fiberoptic cord and electrosurgery cord are connected. 5. The obturator is removed and the Iglesias working element is inserted. 6. A cutting electrode is inserted to remove prostate tissue. 7. A ball electrode is used to cauterize bleeders. 8. An Ellik evacuator is used to retrieve the specimen that has floated into the bladder. 9. A spoon is used for prostate tissue that is drained from the bladder and collects on the screen of the drape.
