Therapeutic Actions

Acts systemically before tooth eruption and topically after tooth eruption to increase tooth resistance to acid dissolution and promote remineralization of teeth and inhibit caries formation by microbes.

  • Prevention of dental caries


  • Unlabeled use: Prevention of osteoporosis



Available Forms

Chewable tablets—0.25, 0.5, 1 mg; tablets—1 mg; drops—0.125, 0.5 mg/mL; lozenges—1 mg; solution—0.2 mg/mL; rinse—0.02%, 0.04%, 0.09%, 0.2%; gel—0.1%, 0.5%, 1.2%, 1.23%


Dosages

Adults

Rinse or topical rinse

10 mL once daily or weekly; swish around teeth and spit out.

Gel or cream

Apply thin ribbon to toothbrush or mouth tray for 1 min; brush, rinse, and spit out.

Pediatric patients

Oral
