Small-for-gestational-age neonate
Birth weight at or below the 10th percentile on intrauterine growth chart
Occurs in premature, full-term, or postmature neonates
Places the neonate at risk for:
Perinatal asphyxia
Hypoglycemia
Hypocalcemia
Aspiration syndromes
Increased heat loss
Feeding difficulties
Polycythemia
Also called small for date, intrauterine growth restriction, and SGA
