CHAPTER 25 Hysteroscopy Hysteroscopy is an endoscopic visualization of the uterine cavity and is usually performed to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of intrauterine diseases. Possible equipment needed for the procedure includes a hysteroscope, D and C instruments, and possibly, if the surgeon wishes to examine inside the abdomen, a laparoscope, a fiberoptic light source, polyethylene tubing, a hysteroscopic insufflator, a video camera, and a monitor. 25-1 Top to bottom: Multitoothed semirigid grasping forceps, 5 Fr; semirigid Metzenbaum scissors, 5 Fr; semirigid cup biopsy forceps, 5 Fr; Gimpelson tenaculum; 20-degree angled hysteroscope (adapter, on scope); and cable with adapter.
