HOT FLASHES
Hot flashes may be a side effect of menopause, some diseases, or some medications. Hot flashes can occur in both women and men. Here are some things that may be effective for you in dealing with hot flashes. Not every measure will help every patient. You will need to see what works for you!
1. Vitamin E taken after meals with fat or with lecithin (this contains phosphorus) to aid absorption. Begin at 100 International Units, and may increase to 800 International Units or until symptoms are relieved. If you have high blood pressure, heart disease, or diabetes, check with your health care provider before trying. You may also obtain vitamin E from your diet in wheat germ, whole grains, vegetable oils, soybeans, peanuts, and spinach.
2. Vitamin B complex. Taken one or two per day after meals. You can also get vitamin B complex in your diet with whole grains, wheat germ, yogurt, brewer’s yeast, and milk.
