Therapeutic Actions
Inhibits triglyceride synthesis in the liver resulting in a reduction in VLDL released into circulation; may also stimulate the breakdown of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins.
Indications
Adjunct to diet in treating adults with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia
Adjunct to diet for treatment of adults with hypertriglyceridemia
As adjunct to diet with a statin to reduce triglycerides and increase HDLs in patients with mixed dyslipidemia and coronary heart disease or at high risk for coronary heart disease
Unlabeled use: Hyperuricemia
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with allergy to fenofibrate, hepatic or severe renal impairment, primary biliary cirrhosis, gall bladder disease, pregnancy.
Use cautiously with lactation and in the elderly.

Adults
Hypertriglyceridemia: Initially, 48–145 mg (TriCor) or 67–200 mg (Lofibra) with a meal or 50–160 mg/day (Triglide) daily PO or 43–130 mg/day PO (Antara), or 50–150 mg/day PO (Lipofen), or 40–120 mg/day PO (Fenoglide), or 45–135 mg/day PO (Trilipix)
Primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia: 145 mg/day PO (TriCor) or 200 mg/day (Lofibra) with a meal or 160 mg/day (Triglide) or 130 mg/day PO (Antara), or 150 mg/day PO (Lipofen), or 120 mg/day PO (Fenoglide), or 135 mg/day PO (Trilipix)
Combination with a statin: 135 mg/day PO (Trilipix)
