Ethical Considerations



Ethics plays a major role in oncology nursing practice and the delivery of care to patients. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics (2001) established the groundwork for practice, which includes the following:



Ethics is derived from the Greek term ethos, meaning customs, conduct, or character, and involves the study of how a person determines right and wrong, which involves principles of thinking, reasoning, and decision making when faced with choices of conflict.
