Therapeutic Actions
Inhibits the intracellular enzyme (5 alpha-reductase) that converts testosterone into a potent androgen (DHT); does not affect androgen receptors in the body; the prostate gland is dependent on DHT for its development and maintenance.
Indications
Treatment of symptomatic BPH in men with an enlarged prostate gland
In combination with tamsulosin for treatment of symptomatic BPH in men with enlarged prostate gland
Unlabeled use: Prostate cancer prevention.
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with allergy to any component of the product, other 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, women, children, pregnancy, lactation.
Use cautiously with hepatic impairment.

CapsuleDNC—0.5 mg
Dosages
Adults
0.5 mg/day PO. Swallow whole.
Combination therapy with tamsulosin: 0.5 mg/day PO with tamsulosin 0.4. mg/day PO.
Pediatric patients
Contraindicated in pediatric patients.
