CHAPTER 67 The clear corneal cataract procedure that has recently been developed is performed with the use of topical anesthetics, foldable IOLs, and diamond knives. This allows the surgeon to make microincisions that are self-healing and may not need stitches. For this procedure to be performed, it is imperative that the patient can hear and is able to follow specific directions. While performing this procedure, the surgeon can usually do full correction of refractive errors at the time of surgery.
