Vaginal Instillations
Vaginal medications are available in foam, jelly, cream, or suppository form. Medicated irrigations or douches can also be given. However, their excessive use can lead to vaginal irritation. Vaginal suppositories are oval shaped and individually packaged in foil wrappers. They are larger and more oval than rectal suppositories. Storage in a refrigerator prevents the solid suppositories from melting.
