OVERVIEW

The risk for sustaining an injury during and following a disaster is high. Tetanus is a potential health threat for persons who sustain wound injuries. Any wound or rash has the potential for becoming infected and should be assessed by a healthcare provider as soon as possible. Quick and proper management of wounds is critical to prevent further problems such as amputations. Nurses should abide by the following basic wound management steps in order to maximize their effectiveness and efficiency in aiding patients.
