Therapeutic Actions
Acts as an antidepressant by inhibiting CNS neuronal uptake of serotonin; blocks uptake of serotonin. Also has specific serotonin receptor antagonism and agonism.
Indications
Treatment of major depressive disorder in adults
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with hypersensitivity to vortioxetine or components of drug, use of an MAOI within 14 days, concurrent use of linezolid or IV methylene blue, pregnancy, lactation.
Use cautiously with bipolar disorders, SIADH, history of suicide attempts.

Tablets—5, 10, 15, 20 mg
Dosages
Adults
Initially, 10 mg/day PO; increase to 20 mg/day PO as tolerated. Consider 5 mg/day PO for patients who do not tolerate higher doses.
Pediatric patients
Safety and efficacy not established.
