Therapeutic Actions

Inhibits replication of some retroviruses, including HIV, HTLV III, LAV, and ARV.


Indications



  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in combination with other antiretroviral therapy



Available Forms

Capsules—15, 20, 30, 40 mg; oral solution—1 mg/mL


Dosages

Adults

Weighing 60 kg or more: 40 mg PO every 12 hr.

Weighing less than 60 kg: 30 mg PO every 12 hr.

Pediatric patients older than 13 days

Weighing 60 kg or more: 40 mg PO every 12 hr.

Weighing 30 kg to less than 60 kg: 30 mg PO every 12 hr.

Weighing less than 30 kg: 1 mg/kg/dose PO every 12 hr.

Pediatric patients, birth to 13 days

0.5 mg/kg/dose PO every 12 hr.

Patients with renal impairment
