Therapeutic Actions

Counteracts smooth muscle spasm of the urinary tract by relaxing the detrusor and other smooth muscles through action at the muscarinic parasympathetic receptors.


Indications



  • Treatment of overactive bladder with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency



Available Forms

TabletsDNC—5, 10 mg


Dosages

Adults

5 mg/day PO, swallowed whole with water. May be increased to 10 mg/day if desired effect is not seen.

Pediatric patients

Safety and efficacy not established.

Patients with severe renal or moderate hepatic impairment

Do not exceed 5 mg/day PO.

Patients with severe hepatic impairment

Not recommended.
