Therapeutic Actions

A depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent that causes spastic paralysis of Enterobius vermicularis and Ascaris lumbricoides. Also effective against Ancyclostoma duodenale (hookworm).


Indications



  • Treatment of enterobiasis (pinworm infection)


  • Treatment of ascariasis (roundworm infection), trichinosis


  • Unlabeled use: Hairworm



Available Forms

Oral suspension—50 mg/mL, 144 mg/mL; chewable tablets—720.5 mg


Dosages

Adults and pediatric patients older than 2 yr

11 mg/kg (5 mg/lb) PO as a single oral dose. Maximum total dose of 1 g.

Pediatric patients younger than 2 yr
