Therapeutic Actions
A depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent that causes spastic paralysis of Enterobius vermicularis and Ascaris lumbricoides. Also effective against Ancyclostoma duodenale (hookworm).
Indications

Treatment of enterobiasis (pinworm infection)

Treatment of ascariasis (roundworm infection), trichinosis

Contraindications and Cautions

Contraindicated with allergy to pyrantel pamoate.

Use cautiously with pregnancy, lactation, hepatic disease.

Oral suspension—50 mg/mL, 144 mg/mL; chewable tablets—720.5 mg
Dosages
Adults and pediatric patients older than 2 yr
11 mg/kg (5 mg/lb) PO as a single oral dose. Maximum total dose of 1 g.
Pediatric patients younger than 2 yr
