NSAID (oxicam derivative)


Therapeutic Actions

Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic activities related to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis; exact mechanisms of action are not known.


Indications



  • Relief of the signs and symptoms of acute and chronic rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis


  • Unlabeled uses: Dysmenorrhea, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, postherpetic neuralgia



Available Forms

Capsules—10, 20 mg


Dosages

Adults

Single daily dose of 20 mg PO. Dose may be divided. Steady-state blood levels are not achieved for 7–12 days. Therapeutic response occurs early but progresses over several wk; do not evaluate for 2 wk.

Pediatric patients

Safety and efficacy not established.
