Therapeutic Actions

Bactericidal: Inhibits cell wall synthesis of sensitive organisms, causing cell death.


Indications



  • Treatment of moderately severe infections caused by sensitive organisms—streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci, meningococci, Actinomyces israelii, Clostridium perfringens and tetani, Leptotrichia buccalis (Vincent disease), Spirillum minus, Streptobacillus moniliformis, Listeria monocytogenes, Pasteurella multocida, Erysipelothrix insidiosa, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Alcaligenes faecalis, Salmonella, Shigella, Proteus mirabilis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis


  • Treatment of specific STDs
