Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic activities largely related to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis; exact mechanisms of action are not known.
Indications
Acute and long-term treatment of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with significant renal impairment, allergy to NSAIDs, pregnancy, lactation, postoperative coronary arterny bypass graft
Use cautiously with hepatic, CV, and GI conditions.

Tablets—500, 750 mg
Dosages
Adults
1,000 mg PO as a single dose with or without food. 1,500–2,000 mg/day have been used. May be given in divided doses.
Pediatric patients
Safety and efficacy not established.
Patients with renal impairment
Maximum starting dose should not exceed 750 mg daily for moderate insufficiency, 500 mg for severe insufficiency.
