Therapeutic Actions

Binds to serotonin receptors to cause vascular constrictive effects on cranial blood vessels,
causing the relief of migraine in selective patients.


Indications



  • Treatment of acute migraines with or without aura in adults



Available Forms

Tablets—2.5 mg


Dosages

Adults

2.5 mg PO as a single dose at first sign of migraine; if headache returns, may be repeated after 2 hr. Do not use more than 3 doses/24 hr. Safety of treating more than four headaches/30 days has not been established.

Pediatric patients

Safety and efficacy not established for patients younger than 18 yr.
