Therapeutic Actions
Bactericidal; inhibits RNA synthesis by RNA polymerases, causing cell death. Works primarily against Clostridium difficile locally in the GI tract.
Indications
Treatment of C. difficile diarrhea in patients 18 yr and older
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with history of serious hypersensitivity reactions to fidaxomicin.
Use cautiously with pregnancy, lactation.
