Therapeutic Actions
Human factor IX complex consists of plasma fractions involved in the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation; causes an increase in blood levels of clotting factors II, VII, VIII, IX, and X.
Indications
Factor IX deficiency (hemophilia B, Christmas disease) to prevent or control bleeding

Dosages
For factor IX deficiency, dosage depends on severity of deficiency and severity of bleeding; follow treatment carefully with factor IX level assays. Dosage should be calculated based on body weight and plasma factor IX levels and will vary for each preparation and intended use. See manufacturers’ details.
Adults
BeneFix, Bebulin VH: Administer IV daily–bid: minor hemorrhage—for 1–2 days; moderate hemorrhage—for 2–7 days; major hemorrhage—for 7–10 days.
Others: 1 international unit/kg × body weight (kg) × desired increase (% of normal).
