Therapeutic Actions
Binds to serotonin receptors to cause vascular constrictive effects on cranial blood vessels, causing the relief of migraine in selective patients.
Indications
Treatment of acute migraines with or without aura in adults
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with hypersensitivity to any component of eletriptan, allergy to other triptans, ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular syndrome, peripheral vascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, hemiplegic or basilar migraine, severe hepatic impairment, within 24 hr of using any other triptan- or ergotamine-containing medication.
Use cautiously with pregnancy, lactation, hepatic impairment.

Tablets—20, 40 mg
Dosages
Adults
Individualize dosage; 20–40 mg PO. If the headache improves but then returns, a second dose may be given after waiting at least 2 hr. Maximum daily dose, 80 mg.
Pediatric patients
