Therapeutic Actions
Cytotoxic: Inhibits DNA synthesis and cellular RNA and protein synthesis in susceptible cells, causing cell death.
Indications

Disseminated adenocarcinoma of the stomach or pancreas; part of combination therapy or as palliative measure when other modalities fail

Unlabeled uses: Intravesical route—superficial bladder cancer; ophthalmic route—may be useful adjunct to glaucoma surgery; intra-arterial route—hepatocellular cancer; topical route—otolaryngologic procedures; other unlabeled uses include colorectal cancer; breast cancer; squamous cell carcinoma of the head, neck, lungs, and cervix; tracheal stenosis
Contraindications and Cautions

Contraindicated with allergy to mitomycin; thrombocytopenia, coagulation disorders, or increase in bleeding tendencies; severe impaired renal function (creatinine level above 1.7 mg/dL); myelosuppression; pregnancy; lactation.

Use cautiously with renal impairment.

Adults
After hematologic recovery from previous chemotherapy, use the following schedule at 6- to 8-wk intervals: 20 mg/m2 IV as a single dose. Re-evaluate patient for hematologic response between courses of therapy; adjust dosage accordingly:
