Therapeutic Actions
Blocks the effects of histamine at H1-receptor sites; has atropine-like, antipruritic, and sedative effects.
Indications
Symptomatic relief of symptoms associated with perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis; vasomotor rhinitis; allergic conjunctivitis
Mild, uncomplicated urticaria and angioedema
Contraindications and Cautions
Contraindicated with allergy to any antihistamines, third trimester of pregnancy, lactation.
Use cautiously with narrow-angle glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, asthmatic attack, bladder neck obstruction, pyloroduodenal obstruction.

Tablets—1.34, 2.68 mg; syrup—0.67 mg/5 mL
Dosages
Adults and children older than 12 yr
Allergic rhinitis: 1.34 mg PO bid. Do not exceed 8.04 mg/day (syrup); 2.68 mg/day (tablets).
Urticaria or angioedema: 2.68 mg PO daily–bid. Do not exceed 8.04 mg/day.
Pediatric patients 6–12 yr
Allergic rhinitis (syrup only): 0.67 mg PO as syrup bid. Do not exceed 4.02 mg/day.
Urticaria or angioedema (syrup only): 1.34 mg PO as syrup bid. Do not exceed 4.02 mg/day.
Pediatric patients younger than 6 yr
