Drug Classes

Skeletal muscle relaxant (centrally acting)


Therapeutic Actions

Precise mechanism not known; has sedative properties; acts at spinal and supraspinal levels of the CNS to depress reflex arcs involved in producing and maintaining skeletal muscle spasm.


Indications



  • Relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions, adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures



Available Forms

Tablets—250, 375, 500, 750 mg


Dosages

Adults

Usual dose, 250 mg PO tid–qid; painful conditions may require 500 mg PO tid–qid; may increase to 750 mg tid–qid; reduce dosage as improvement occurs.
