Skeletal muscle relaxant (centrally acting)
Therapeutic Actions
Precise mechanism not known; has sedative properties; acts at spinal and supraspinal levels of the CNS to depress reflex arcs involved in producing and maintaining skeletal muscle spasm.
Indications

Relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions, adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures
Contraindications and Cautions

Contraindicated with allergic or idiosyncratic reactions to chlorzoxazone.

Use cautiously with history of allergies or allergic drug reactions, lactation, pregnancy.
Available Forms
Tablets—250, 375, 500, 750 mg
Dosages
Adults
Usual dose, 250 mg PO tid–qid; painful conditions may require 500 mg PO tid–qid; may increase to 750 mg tid–qid; reduce dosage as improvement occurs.
