The central nervous system (CNS) stimulants are a small class of drugs that enhance the activity of the neurons in the CNS. They can cause seizure activity if given in therapeutic doses.1 Their use is currently limited to the treatment of narcolepsy and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Do not participate in activities requiring concentration until drug response is known.
Do not breast-feed.
Drug must be stopped gradually.
For children, measure height and weight and report weight loss to physician.
Insomnia and agitation need to be reported to physician.
Physical and psychological dependence can develop.
