Therapeutic Actions

Antimycobacterial: Inhibits mycobacterial ATP synthase, an enzyme needed for the generation of energy by the mycobacterium, leading to mycobacterial death.


Indications



  • Part of combination therapy in pulmonary multidrug-resistant TB when other treatment regimens cannot be provided; not for use in latent, extrapulmonary, or drug-sensitive TB

Dosages

Adults

400 mg/day PO for 2 wk, then 200 mg PO three times/wk for 22 wk with food.

Pediatric patients
