Arteriogram
Purpose
To radiographically examine the target circulation (kidneys, heart, lungs) after injection of a radiopaque contrast medium into an artery (also called angiogram)
To repair certain blood vessels (can be used in conjunction with balloon angioplasty)
To evaluate circulation abnormalities
To distinguish benign and malignant neoplasms
To evaluate the presence and degree of arterial disease
Patient preparation
Make sure that the consent form is signed by the child’s parents or legal guardians.
Note and report all allergies.
Check the child’s history for hypersensitivity to iodine, seafood, or iodinated contrast media.
Check for and report a history of anticoagulation.
Check for and report a history of renal insufficiency.
